The East Tennessee Valkyrie
The East Tennessee Valkyrie women’s tackle football team provides a space for athletes who demand more from themselves and the sport.
Our organization is built on the belief that players with a desire to put in the work are the foundation of a winning culture. By competing in the Women's Football Alliance (WFA), we offer a path for women to engage in full-contact football at a national level. This isn’t flag football, it’s in-your-face, high-stakes competition in a sport we were told we couldn’t play.
The Team
Entering our fifth season in 2026, the Valkyrie have established a consistent track record of excellence. Our program serves as an environment to develop talent, regularly producing All-American and Team United players. This history of success reflects a deep commitment to player development and tactical execution. We compete within WFA Division II, a tier defined by its high level of competition and disciplined rosters across the country.
Athletes join the Valkyrie from across the region, traveling from Knoxville, Tri-Cities, Southeastern Kentucky, Southwestern Virginia, Western North Carolina, and throughout the Southern Appalachian area to be part of the roster. Many of these women have never played tackle football before stepping onto our field. These players consistently prove themselves as vital assets through sheer effort and a willingness to learn the game.
Our coaching staff focuses on the fundamentals, ensuring that every player understands their role and the physical demands of the sport. We take that raw potential from every player, new and veteran, and mold it into a cohesive unit that's ready to charge downfield from the first snap to the last.
We believe championships are earned at practice. On the practice field is where fine-tuning becomes the habits that show up on game film. The grind of preparation is what defines a Valkyrie player, turning raw athleticism into disciplined performance every Saturday. Our goal remains the same every year: outwork the competition and bring a title home to East Tennessee.
Success starts long before the first kickoff of the season
